PURPOSE:To separate aromatic amino acid by using a liquid chromatograph filler for separating aromatic amino acid or aromatic oligopeptide consisting of fired pitch particles wherein pitch is enclosed in mesh-like gel comprising organic polymers. CONSTITUTION:A liquid chromatography filler for segregating aromatic amino acid or aromatic oligopeptide composed of fired pitch particles with a particle diameter of 1 to 50mum wherein a pitch particles are fired with pitch enclosed in spherical mesh-like gel comprising organic polymers has excellent adsorption and separation property with respect to aromatic amino acid and aromatic oligopeptide. In addition the filler is resistant against both acid and base and has a sufficient rigidity for withstanding a high pressure so that it is highly stable during analysis and storage, it can appropriately hold solute, it has a uniform surface, it is completely spherical and its has excellent characteristics as a filler. Therefore by using such a filler separation of aromatic amino acid and aromatic oligopeptide is possible.
