PURPOSE:To simply prevent the crevice corrosion of a Ti or Ti alloy member at a low cost by converting Ti2Ni into powder of a specified size and filling this powder into a crevice in the Ti of Ti alloy member. CONSTITUTION:Ti2Ni as an intermetallic compd. is converted into powder of =100mum size and this powder is filled into a crevice in a Ti or Ti alloy member to prevent the crevice corrosion of the member. Ti2Ni contg. =10wt.%, in total, of Pt family elements such as Au, Pt, Pd, Ru, Os and Ir may be converted into powder of =100mum size to be filled. Ti2Ni powder may be mixed with an org. solvent, applied to the member and dried. A troublesome stage can be made unnecessary.
