APPARATUS FOR MONITORING CONTAMINATION OF VARIOUS GERM IN BIOPROCESS

PURPOSE:To always monitor contamination of various germs and proliferation of mutant series by converting image of a microorganism in bioprocess into image data using microscope and television camera and comparing the image data with normal image data. CONSTITUTION:A culture medium 3 is charged into a bioreactor 1 and culture is carried out while stirring the culture medium 3 with a stirrer 2 and simultaneously part of culture medium 3 is taken out and circulated into the bioreactor 1 by a pump again. The culture medium 3 is monitored by a monitor device provided with a monitor part 5, microscope 7, television camera, etc., provided on the way to piping 4. Then germ cell in the culture medium 3 is enlarged by the microscope 7 and converted into an image signal by the television camera 8 and fed to an image treating device 10. Then the resultant image data are compared with normal image data by the image treating device 10 and proliferation of various germs or mutant series in the culture medium 3 is inferred therefrom and if abnormality is found, process stopping signal is output to a control device 15 or alarm signal is sent to an alarm part 12 to give alarm and informed to operators.
