METHOD FOR PREVENTING TRANSVERSE CRACK IN CAST STRIP IN TWIN ROLL TYPE STRIP CASTING

PURPOSE:To obtain a cast strip having good inner and surface qualities by casting a cast strip, which completes solidification at neighborhood of the nearest part between twin rolls, under the specific rolling reduction ratio to the thickness direction. CONSTITUTION:Pouring basin 3 for receiving molten metal from a tundish is formed with horizontal rolls 1, 1 and side dams 2, 2 arranged at both ends thereof. Then, the solidification of cast strip is completed at neighborhood of the nearest part between twin rolls 1, 1. This cast strip 4 is cast under the rolling reduction ratio of =50% to the thickness direction thereof. By this method, transverse crack developed on the surface of cast strip can be prevented.
