PREDICTING METHOD FOR LEAD STORAGE BATTERY LIFE

PURPOSE:To predict the life of a battery through a simple method and with high precision by detecting the voltage of the battery under being charged with electricity for integrating the quantity of charged electricity on and after the approximate attainment of a battery voltage to a constant voltage, and then predicting the battery life from the integrated value. CONSTITUTION:A charged current I is detected by a charging current detector 4. A charged battery voltage V is meanwhile detected by also a battery voltage detector 5, and the subsequent rise of the voltage V to a rated constant voltage VI causes the voltage detection output signal to be transmitted to a timer 10 which is operated by the detection output signal so as to output a timer signal after the passage of a predetermined time. Entry of this timer signal causes a relay 11 to be operated so as to make a contact 11a, and therefore a charged- electricity quantity integration unit 12 integrates the quantity of charged electricity according to the charged current detected by the charging current detector 4 for transmitting the integrated value to a life calculating unit 13. The life calculating unit 13 calculates the ratio of the integrated value to the quantity of overcharged electricity regarding the actual service life of a specified type storage battery 3, the information of which is pre-entered into the unit 13, so that the calculated value is displayed as a predicted life value by a life display unit 14. The battery life can thus be predicted through a simple method and with high precision.
