DEVICE FOR OBTAINING TENSILE STRENGTH CHARACTERISTIC OF LONG-SIZED FIBER TEST SAMPLE

PURPOSE: To determine the tension characteristics of a long fiber sample by grasping the sample by means of a pair of rollers and then rupturing the sample at a constant deformation rate. CONSTITUTION: The test equipment comprises a supply section 1, a storing section 2 and a test section 3 of yarn G to be tested. The test section 3 is provided with two pairs of rollers W, W' each comprising carrying rollers 4, 4' and press rollers 5, 5' and a tension sensor 6 is set at a bending point of a yarn channel 7. The carrying rollers 4, 4" have two circumferential parts of different radius and turn oppositely. The press rollers 5, 5' have circumferential surfaces covered with a high elasticity layer of rubber, for example, and can turn freely. When the yarn G is inserted into a gap when the gap is present between the rollers 4, 5 and 4', 5', as shown on Fig. 2a, the yarn G is grasped at a moment of time when the step between the small and large diameters of rollers 4, 4' arrives between the roller shafts and stretched as shown on Fig. 2b. The stretching operation continues as shown on the Fig. 2c and the yarn G is ruptured before reaching the state shown on Fig. 2d.
