PURPOSE:To improve driving performance by making constitution wherein a cycle of torque fluctuation of an internal combustion engine is sensed, and engine output torque is lowered when the sensed cycle is within a specific range. CONSTITUTION:Cycle T of torque fluctuation of an engine 1 is calculated. Since an engine rotation also fluctuates synchronously with the above cycle T, this fluctuation in rotation is calculated. Then whether the cycle T is within a specific range ATB is determined. The specific values A, B are torque fluctuation cycle determination values to be the upper and the lower limits of a specific cycle of torque fluctuation which can be sensed by a human body and occurs in an irregular combustion region where exchange of newly supplied air and exhausted gas cannot be sufficiently done. When ATB is satisfied, retardation of ignition time is conducted with respect to a reference value by subtracting a compensation value from the reference value at ignition time. A driving signal corresponding to the retarded ignition time is transmitted from an ECU 5 to an ignition device 11 to lower an engine output torque.
