PURPOSE:To synthesize a diamond coat having high uniformity with good adhesiveness on a base material to be deposited with diamond by bringing the surface of the base material on the side opposite to the surface to be sprayed with a combustion flame into contact with a molten bath of a metal having a specific m.p., etc., thereby controlling the temp. of the base material. CONSTITUTION:A sintered hard plate 3 (WC-Co) is held in the molten bath 5 of metals, alloys or inorg. compds. having =1200 deg.C m.p. (for example, Pb, Cu-Ag alloy, NaCl, etc.) in a low melting metal bath tank 4 in such a manner that the surface to be coated with diamond emerges about several mm from the surface of the molten bath 5. The combustion flame 2 adjusted to a diamond deposition state is then blown from a burner 1 perpendicularly to the surface of the sintered plate 3 to successively deposit the diamond on the surface thereof. The diamond coating is synthesized with the higher uniformity and the higher adhesive strength in this way.
