PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish a fundamental means capable of realizing device application in the field of application quite different from the concept in the conventional superlattice field, in the diamond synthesized in a vapor phase, and that is to say, to realize 'periodical change of crystallinity', based on 'modulation of structural sensitivity of crystal' being a concept quite different from the conventional application of a superlattice structure or the like, in the inside of the diamond crystal.;SOLUTION: The means for obtaining diamond having periodical fine structure, in which the structural sensitivity (physical properties) of the synthesized diamond is periodically changed along the growth direction of the crystal, comprises modulating synthetic conditions by periodically impressing a pulse electric field or impressing an alternating current field having square waves during synthesis of the diamond by 'a combustion flame vapor phase synthetic method' being one of the conventional vapor phase diamond synthetic methods.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
