PURPOSE:To perform image forming with good time efficiency and good S/N by using a magnetic field of nonlinear gradient to obtain measured data in a whole measuring range. CONSTITUTION:Specified magnetic fields of nonlinear gradient generated by specified magnetic field generating and scanning coils C1, C2 are superimposed on a static magnetic field generated by a uniform magnetic field generating magnet B. A material to be measured is set under a magnetic field environment composed of the superimposed magnetic field, and a high-frequency magnetic field by a transmitting coil D is impressed on said material. Further, a nuclear magnetic resonance alternating field is caught by a receiving coil E, and the output is inputted to a controlling calculator 14 through a preamplifier 5, a main amplifier 6, a phase-sensitive detector 7 and an A/D converter 8. Distribution information on a nuclear magnetic material in the measuring material is converted to an image by the calculator 14, and said information is displayed by a displaying circumferential apparatus 15.
