The invention is concerned with a device to be applied to tree trunks to prevent insects or parasites from climbing up which would damage the product. The device comprises a receptacle with a collar suitable for attachment to tree trunks so as to form, with the liquid contained in them, an insurmountable barrier against insects or parasites from climbing up. The receptacle can be formed of two or more parts and made to open to allow it to be attached to the tree and subsequently locked around the trunk.
