TUBE-SHAPED PLIABLE CATHETER FOR INTRODUCTION INTO THE TRACHEA AND BRONCHI

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE:A tubular flexible probe for introduction into thetrachea or bronchial system, contains a continuous lumenwith a connecting piece provided at the proximal inlet endfor connection to a suction device. Beside this firstlumen, there is a further lumen having a smaller diameterthan the first lumen, wherein the wall of the smaller lumenhas a recess in the zone of the proximal inlet end of theprobe. One end of an elastic connecting hose is inserted inthe smaller lumen in this recess. The probe allows for thealternating introduction of medicaments and irrigationsolutions at a high exit velocity at the distal probe endthrough the smaller lumen and for removing secretions or thelike by suction. The probe has a length of about 30-55 cmand an outer diameter of about 5-8 mm, the large lumen has adiameter of about 3 - 4.5 mm, the small lumen has a diameterof about 1 to maximally 2 mm, and the two lumina extend fromthe proximal end up to the distal, rounded end of the probein side-by-side relationship and in parallel to the probeaxis, and there is an attachment for a syringe at the inletend of the connecting hose.
