ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: optical fiber sensor capable of producing microbending in an optical fiber in response to varia-tion of an environmental parameter, said optical fiber being embedded in a sheath made of a first material and the sheath being coated with a layer of a second material. This two rows of surface discontinuities according to a longitudinal direction in the fiber layer, such discontinuities being periodically distributed on each row with a predetermined periodicity, these rows being symmetrical with respect to the axis of rotation of the fiber, but shifted on both the other of the axis of rotation of the fiber such that a change in the environment-ment parameter produces microbends of the same periodicity as discontinuities.
