The invention relates to a method for attaching a fiber-optic sensor system (1) to a roller for use in a machine for producing and/or refining a fibrous web such as a paper web, cardboard web, or tissue web, wherein the sensor system (1) has at least one glass fiber (2) and a plurality of sensors (3), which are formed in the at least one glass fiber (2), and wherein the roller has a roller cylinder (5), in which suction holes (6) are provided, which pass through the roller cylinder (5), comprises the following steps: i) creating a template, ii) applying the template, iii) applying the glass fiber (2), iv) routing the glass fiber (2) along the template, v) checking the course of the glass fiber (2), vi) checking the position of a second sensor (3), vii) correcting the location if necessary, viii) fixing the glass fiber (2), ix) repositioning the template, wherein the template is rotated by 180°, x) repeating steps ii) to ix) until the total length of the glass fiber (2) is routed on the roller cylinder (5).
