Air-conditioning system for commercial food companies, with a compressor-operated refrigerant circuit, comprising an expansion valve, an evaporator and a condenser, for cooling and/or dehumidifying the room air. In order to prevent the possibility that, in the event of a leak in the refrigerant circuit, refrigerant will pass into a production room, the evaporator of the refrigerant circuit is coupled to a cooling-water circuit comprising a heat exchanger which is arranged in a room-air draw-off channel and through which flows the room air to be conditioned, and furthermore a fan drawing off the room air through the draw-off channel, the draw-off channel and the heat exchanger are so dimensioned and coordinated with one another that the flow speed of the air in the heat exchanger amounts to at most a few metres per second.
