Edible film comprises 100 wt.pts. collagen (dry basis) and 1-100, pref. 2-50 and esp. 5-20, wt.pts. gluten. It may also include 0-50 (5-40) wt.% softener; 0-40 (5-30) wt.% filler and 0-5 (0.1-3) wt.% tanning agent, all based on dry wt. of collagen. The filler is cellulose powder; the softener is glycerol, propylene glycol and/or sorbitol, and the tanning agent is an aldehyde and/or metal (esp. Al) salt. The gluten is esp. derived from wheat.
