The automatic monitoring system is used to detect the presence of indivdiuals in regions assigned for the movement of fork lift trucks and similar vehicles. The system uses a flash bulb arrangement coupled with a LCD camera to identify the presence of an individual or object. The object region is illuminated by flash units lcoated on both sides of the track and are alternated to create a shallow pattern that can be distinguished from that of a vehicle.
