Method of causing the cold fusion of light atom cores, esp. of deuterium consists of electrolysing an electrolyte (8) containing deuterium and/or tritium and/or lithium cores using an anode (5) made from a material which activates the hydrogen pick-up by the cathode. The anode is pref. made of Pt and/or Pd and/or Au, and is heated to above 100 deg.C. USE/ADVANTAGE - Cold fusion of light atoms to generate heat.
