The braking system has a conventional ABS control circuit (40). Each front (12,12') and rear (10,10') wheel is provided with a r.p.m. sensor (26,26';28,28'). A brake pressure remains so long as it is greater than the pressure pertaining at the brakes of the front wheels (12,12') and as long as the rotation retardation of the rear wheels remains under a specified value. At the start of braking, the pressure control supplies medium at a pressure to the brakes of the front wheels which corresponds only to the feed pressure of the brakes of the front wheels so long as the rotation retardation of the rear wheels remains under a specified value.
