Method of suction removing the surface film present on cold rolled prods. consists of passing air at ultrasonic speed onto the surface of the prod. inside a vacuum box and removing the air together with the film material through a suction channel. The appts. consists of a cylindrical housing (11) with side entrances for the prod. a central suction channel (12), side guiding elements (14), side entrances (15a) for the air and disc shaped diaphragms (16) which leave a small gap (17) of approx. 0.3mm for the inflow of air at high speed. ADVANTAGE - By removing the film together with any solid particles from the surface area of the prod. there is no danger of damage to the prod. surface as would be the case in the prior art stripper devices where solid particles are retained on the stripper blades.
