The circumference of the grinding wheel disc has rectangular profile teeth (2,3,4...), the flanks of which have an electroplated layer of cubic boron nitride (CBN) abrasive. Other tooth profiles have advantages for specific applications. Unlike conventional CNB grinding wheels, the wheel can easily be trued on the machine spindle without a substantial loss of abrasive. The kinematics of the grinding process ensure that only the abrasive outer edges of the teeth (25-30) are in contact with the work. ADVANTAGE - Grinding force is reduced. Coolant and grinding debris can flow out of spaces between teeth. Grinding quality is maintained irrespective of wheel wear. Special wheel tolerances are not necessary since the wheel can easily be trued.
