Dissolving high purity zinc in electrolyte - has atomised zinc in lower part of vessel meeting electrolyte fed from above through porous layer and then falling to vessel bottom
Process for displaying high purity zinc in an electrolyte involves atomising liquid zinc in a chamber and bringing it into contact with the electrolyte. The atomised zinc is burnt under a supply of oxygen. The processing unit comprises a tower-like chamber into which the electrolyte is fed from above through a feed pipe. Liquid zinc from a zinc melting station is fed into the lower region of the chamber through a nozzle assembly. A bath of electrolyte with the dissolved high purity zinc is maintained at the bottom of the chamber. The electrolyte is drawn off through an outlet. The electrolyte fed from above flows through a fibrous layer and trickles onto the atomised zinc. The chamber is ventilated by an upper outlet whereby air and exhaust gas are pref. fed through a filter layer above the electrolyte feed pipe. An ignition device is positioned near the nozzle assembly. ADVANTAGE - A sufficiently high dissolving speed is attained with the introduction of an electrolyte of relatively high pH value.
