Mixts. (I) are claimed, contg. (A) 0.1-99.9wt.% polycarbonate based on a cycloaliphatic bisphenol of formula (II) and (B) 99.9-0.1wt.% polypropylene (other than atactic PP); R1, R2 = H, , 1-8C alkyl, 5-6C cycloalkyl, 6-10C aryl or 7-12C aralkyl; m = 4-7; R3, R4 = H or 1-6C alkyl (can be different for each X, but both = alkyl on at least one X); X = carbon. Pref. (II) is 1,1-bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-3,3,5-trimethylcyclohexane (IIA). (A) are based on mixt. of (II) and other bisphenols, pref. 0-10 mol.% Bisphenol A, and (B) is isotactic, syndiotactic or stereo-block PP; (A) and (B) are pref. mixed in an extruder. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) are useful for prodn. of moulded articles (claimed). The invention provides mixts. of heat-resistant polycarbonates and PP in which the components are more compatible than in mixts. and are present in finely-dispersed form. In an example, a mixt. of 1600g polycarbonate based on (IIA) and 400g polypropylene P 9000 (RTM) was dried for 16 hrs. at 100 deg.C under reduced pressure, kneaded at 365 deg.C and granulated. The prod. contained 0.2-0.5 micron PP particles well distributed in the PC matrix, with hardly any voids and good matrix/PP bonding (transmission electron microscopy). The prod. had notch impact strength, 31.5 kJ/m2; flexural modulus, 2243 MPa. When a Bisphenol A polycarbonate was used instead of (A), the prod. contained large voids, with poorly-dispersed PP; corresp. mechanical test results were 15.6 kJ/m2 and 2150 MPa.
