Belts, in partic. endless belts have one or more load resistant elements. In a process for joining the belts. The endless blets are connected by a knot formed by two free ends of a load bearing continuous reinforcing element. Additional security knots are made on both sides of the first knot. The joint between the belt ends is made by knotting the reinforcing elements before a surrounding cover is provided over the knotted elements. Load bearing elements are normally a low extension fibre e.g. carbon, glass, polyethylene or polyamide. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process enables high strength joints to be made between the load bearing elements of conveyer or drive belts which are normally difficult to connect.
