A collar for a pelleting press, particularly for pressing foodstuffs has an upper surface aligned towards a mould, pref. a ring mould. The grip on the collar surface is increased by grooves running at right angles to the circumference. Wear at the edges of the collar can be reduced by varying the groove structure such that the grooves, which run out before the edges, have a reduced width and/or depth towards and/or in the edge area. Holes, pref. blind holes are formed on either side of grooves within the edge area. USE/ADVANTAGE - The collar is used in pelleting presses, partic. for foodstuffs to produce bulk goods from various materials and when used with materials with high fat content has good grip with improved wear resistance at the edges, producing uniform wear over the whole surface.
