MOUNTING STRUCTURE FOR OUTER LEAD CONNECTING SUBSTRATE OF DISPLAY ELEMENT

PURPOSE:To enable an earthing pattern layer to absorb high-frequency components produced in signal wiring so as to lower the radiated noise level by providing an earthing pattern layer on an outer lead connecting substrate and extending the earthing pattern layer to the vicinity of a displaying region. CONSTITUTION:This display element is of an X-Y matrix type plasma display and the gap at the intersection of a transparent front electrode 8 with a rear electrode 9 constitutes a discharging space, namely, a display cell. For example, a flexible substrate 6 connected to the rear electrode 9 is provided with two layers of an earthing pattern and signal wiring layers 2 and 4. The earthing pattern layer 2 is formed on the entire surface of the signal wiring layer 4 with an insulating layer 3 in between and extended to the end of a displaying region to cover the electrode 9. Therefore, the occurrence of radiated noise can be reduced, since high-frequency components produced in the signal wiring are absorbed by the earthing pattern layer.
