PURPOSE:To perform effective restoration of capacity, by applying an aqueous solfuric acid solution to an ammonia catalytic reducing and denitration catalyst lowered in its capacity by an impregnation or spraying method while baking the impregnated one to reflenish an S-component to said catalyst. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous sulfuric acid solution is applied to an ammonia catalytic reducing and denitration catalyst lowered in its capacity by an impregnation or spraying method before baking. This method is mainly useful for a catalyt based on TiO2, for example, a TiO2-V2O5 type, TiO2-WO3-V2O5 type or TiO2-WO3 type catalyst and, other than this method wherein the sulfuric acid is infiltrated into or sprayed to the catalyst after washing and baking is applied to the impregnated one, a method, wherein sulfuric acid is directly infiltrared into or sprayed to the capacity lowered catalyst before baking, may be employed. A baking temp. is 300-650 deg.C, pref., 400-500 deg.C and a baking time may be about 1hr. By this method, an S-component is replenished to the catalyst and effective restoration of capacity can be performed.
