PURPOSE:To improve the operability by providing a recording device with a recording device control part for temporarily pausing voice reproducing operation in response to a temporary pause signal and resetting the temporary pause in response to the depression of a start determination key. CONSTITUTION:When a clause end is detected without detecting a word stored in a word comparing part 10, a CPU 5 outputs a pause signal to the recording device control part 6 to temporary pause the reproducing of the recording device 1. When candidate selection or correction is necessary, an operator executes the processing by means of an input device 9 to determine a clause result, and when the operator depresses the determination key on the input device 9, a pause signal outputted from the CPU 5 is reset and the recording device 1 reproduces the succeeding sound. Consequently, it is unnecessary for the input operator to execute manual operation such as the interruption of only document processing and the drive of only the recording device, the voice input operation can be simplified and voice input can be efficiently executed.
