METHOD FOR CONTROLLING PASS POSITION OF STEEL STRIP IN CONTINUOUS STEEL STRIP PROCESSING LINE

PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of out-of-trim and edge wave of a steel strip by providing steel strip centering devices (CPC devices) before and behind a welder and locking the operation of a 2nd CPC device until a welding point is passed through a trimmer. CONSTITUTION:While the steel strip 2 is passed to the welder 6, the position of the steel strip 2 is detected with a position detector of a 1st CPC device 3. A hydraulic cylinder 19 is driven through a bed driving device 18 for pay-off reel by control gain with a 1st CPC controller 17 and the pass position of the steel strip 2 is centered. When the steel strip 2 is loosened, the operation of the 1st CPC controller 17 is locked with a line controller 16. When the tail end of a preceding steel strip 2a approaches the welder 6, the control operation of a 2nd CPC controller 22 is locked with the line controller 16. The preceding steel strip 2a and the following steel strip 2 are welded with the welder 6 and the 1st CPC controller 17 is unlocked, when tension is inputted. The centering operation of the 1st CPC device 3 is started.
