METHOD FOR MEASURING CHANGE IN CONSTITUTIVE LIPID OF RED CELL MEMBRANE

PURPOSE:To facilitate the diagnosing of a hypertension by measuring a change in the constitutive lipid by using GC-MS (gas chromatography mass spectrometry). CONSTITUTION:A large amt. of unsatd. fatty acids are contained in the constitutive lipid of the red blood membranes and the peroxidation thereof leads to the non-specific spreading of radical chain reactions. The red cells of a hypertensive are regarded to be subjected to oxidative damages with lapse of time as the radial removing mechanism weakens. The change in the constituting lipid of the red cell membranes is, therefore, measured by using the GC-MS for the purpose of diagnosing the hypertension.
