PURPOSE: To enhance octane characteristics by reforming at low severities by subjecting naptha containing paraffin, aromatic and naphthene components to the min. paraffin dehydrocyclization in the presence of a specific catalyst. ;CONSTITUTION: 0.1-0.7 wt.% (on a dry basis) of platinum (b), 0.1-0.7 wt.% of iridium (c), 0.02-0.4 wt.% of tin (d) and, if necessary, 0.1-3% of halogen and 0.01-0.2 wt.% of sulfur (e) are uniformly dispersed into a granular solid support pref. being a γ-alumina support (a) to obtain a tin modified platinum-iridium catalyst (B). Within a multiple reactor reforming apparatus consisting of at least a lead reactor and a large number of continuously connected reactors inclusive of a terminal reactor, naphtha containing paraffin, aromatic and naphthene components (A) is subjected to the min. paraffin dehydrocyclization in the presence of the component B to perform dehydrogenation and cyclization isomerization reaction to obtain reformed gasoline with RON clear octane of 80-95.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO
