PURPOSE:To obtain the novel material having ferromagnetism and superconductivity by forming the material from a compd. shown by LaBa2Cu3O7-y ((y) is 0.2 to 0.9) and a compd. shown by La4Ba2Cu2O10 exhibiting ferromagnetism at low temp. CONSTITUTION:The novel material consists of LaBa2Cu3O7-y having both qualities mentioned above and the material contg. a specified amt. of Ca. The novel material is produced as follows. Namely, a Cu-based raw powder forming La2O3 on heating, a Ba-based raw powder forming BaO on heating and a Cu-based raw powder forming CuO on heating are mixed. The mixed powder is burned in a nonoxidizing atmosphere to obtain the novel material. The material having superconductivity is utilized for a superconducting magnet, a superconducting device, etc. The material having ferromagnetism at the same time is utilized for a device consisting of a magnetic substance and a superconductor, a new product utilizing magnetic transition, etc. The material having ferromagnetism is utilized for a magnetic bubble, etc.
