PRODUCTION OF CROSSLINKED COPOLYMER PARTICLE FOR REVERSED-PHASE LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY AND COLUMN FOR REVERSED-PHASE LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY

PURPOSE:To efficiently produce the crosslinked copolymer particles effective as a column packing material for reversed-phase partition liquid chromatography by specifying the molar ratio of vinyl ester or vinyl ether of 6 to 24C aliphat. alcohol and a crosslinking agent having a hydroxyl group to a 1 to 0.05 range. CONSTITUTION:The molar ratio f the vinyl ester or vinyl ether I of 6 to 24C aliphat. alcohol and the vinyl ester or vinyl ether crosslinking aget II having the hydroxyl group is specified to the 1 to 0.05 range. Both are subjected to an aq. suspension polymn. in the presence of an org. solvent which does not compatibilize with water at need to form the crosslinked copolymer particles. The polymn. reaction is usually effected for 6 to 10 hours in a 70 to 90 deg.C range and th resulted crosslinked copolymer particles are classified at need and are used as the column packing agent for reversed-phase chromatography. The produced crosslinked copolymer particles are highly resistant to acids and alkalis and have the small differences in swelling and shrinking among various kinds of solvents. The column for reversed-phase partition liquid chormatography for which these particles are used has excellent characteristics.
