NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [R is 2-pyridylamino, 3-pyridylamino, fluorescent substituent group of formula II, etc., or UV-absorbing substituent group such as (methyl)anilino, carboxyphenylamino, etc.]. EXAMPLE:O-6-Deoxy-6-[( 2-pyridyl )amino]-alpha-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 4)-O-alpha-D-glucopyranosyl-( 1 4 )-O-alpha-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 4 )-O-alpha-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 4)-O-alpha-D- glucopyranosyl-(1 4)-D-glycidol. USE:Substrate for the fractional determination of alpha-amylase isozyme. PREPARATION:The 6-site primary alcohol of the glucose residue of dextrin is partially oxidized and made to react with 2-aminopyridine to obtain a Schiff's base. The base is reduced and then hydrolyzed with a liquefying amylase and glucoamylase originated from microorganisms of Bacillus genus. The obtained oligosaccharide derivative is reduced and converted to glycidol to obtain the objective compound.
