PURPOSE: To provide the subject new compound extremely useful as a substrate for the fractional determination of α-amylase isozyme in a specimen and enabling the fractional determination of (α-amylase isozyme with a simple process in high accuracy. ;CONSTITUTION: The nonreducing terminal-modified maltooligosaccharide of formula I ((n) is 2-6; R is H, aromatic chromophore, etc.; X is arylsulfonyl, arylimido, etc.; Y is H or hydrocarbon group), e.g. 2-chloro-4-nitrophenyl 65-O-(t- butyldimethyl)silyl-β--Dmaltopentaoside. The compound can be produced e.g. by reacting a D-maltooligoside of formula II with a carbonyl compound of formula III (R16 is H, methoxy, etc.; R17 is methoxy or ethoxy), subjecting the obtained compound of formula IV to dealkoxymethylidene reaction, converting the 6-hydroxyl group of the resultant partially acylated maltooligosaccharide derivative to trialkylsilyl group and deacylating the resultant compound of formula V (R18 is acyl; R19 and R20 are alkyl).;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
