A pattern copying device for textile machines providing facilitated operation and reduced operating costs. The device comprises a programming and selection system based on punched cards (1) acting on a push rod (3) and slide (4) assembly which turns the card (1) data into actual movement values; a system of overlaps using the same cards (1) as the underlaps; a system of additional shims (13) which produce odd values and are controlled by the same card as the under- and overlaps; and a positioning and guiding assembly including supports (38) for guiding independent carriers (9) linked to a flexible transmission (cable 8). The device is particularly useful for Rachel, tricot or crochetting knitting machines.
