The present invention relates to a device that is particularly useful in the case of a welding machine provided with plate collection device or with a feeding belt for the plate sheet itself. The latter is linked to a yielding and chesting unit, where sheets are collected by transport devices that carry them to a welding unit and that comprises a series of detecting devices located along the itinerary of the sheets. These devices detect the presence of the sheets at different points of their itinerary and then detect the simultaneous feeding of two or more sheets to the yielding and chesting unit. The output port of the first group of detectors is linked to the incremental, decreasing or motion input port of their respective counter, which causes various types of interruptions or stops the machine if the respective limit values are reached. On the other hand the second group of detectors determine the motion of a diverting device that changes the standard itinerary of sheet groups. (Figure 1).
