HEPATITIS C VIRUS ANTIGEN POLYPEPTIDE, PRODUCTION THEREOF, AND DETECTION OF ANTIBODY

A hepatitis C virus antigen polypeptide with a molecular weight of about 22 kd expressed from the structural gene domain of hepatitis C virus; a process for producing said polypeptide and/or related peptides characterized by introducing into a cultured cell strain an expression vector having a cDNA fragment of the structural gene domain of hepatitis C virus inserted thereinto and culturing the resultant transformed strain; and a method of detecting a hepatitis C virus antibody characterized by using the hepatitis C virus antigen polypeptide as an antigen to detect an antibody which is specific for the same.
