Process for the preparation of aryl ester phosphonic acid amides of formula (I), in which R1 is either a univalent residue representing certain residues of aromatic hydrocarbons which may contain substituents, or a divalent residue representing a residue of phenylene, naphthylene biphenyl may include as substituents aromatic hydrocarbon residues; R2 is a residue of non-aromatic hydrocarbons, aryl or an optionally substituted aryl methyl residue; R3 is hydrogen, alkoxy or alkylthio or a group mentioned under R2, and n = 1 or 2. A halide R1 (-X) n, where R1 and n have the above meaning and X is a halogen having a weight atomic atom of at least 35, is reacted with magnesium to obtain the corresponding Grignard compounds R1 (MgX) n, which are then reacted with halides of aryl ester phosphonic acid amide of formula (II) , where R2 to R5 have the above meaning and X is chlorine or bromine, in order to obtain the amide esters of phosphonic acid (I). The invention also relates to certain compounds of formulas (I) and (II), a process for the preparation of compounds of formula (II), the use of the compounds of formula (I), as such or in combination with a phenolic antioxidant to stabilize plastics, as well as molded plastics thus stabilized.
