The component ejector pin also measures pressure in a cavity during a plastic or metal injection moulding process. Pressure measurement is achieved by a force transducer acting in the axial direction of the ejector pin. Transducers may be a piezo-electric or piezoresistive type. Positioning of the transducer as close as possible to the pressure source to be measured ensures a short load transfer distance and reduces frictional effects. The force measuring ejector pin has the same dia. as a conventional ejector pin and performs the same functions such as component ejection and cleaning of the ejector pin bore. USE/ADVANTAGE - The force measuring ejector pin measures pressure during metal or plastic injection moulding and eliminates problems of fluid material entering the gap between the transducer and tool wall and also reduces measuring inaccuracy due to friction of the pin in the bore, especially with longer pins.
