A temp. probe, for contact temp. measurement in microwave fields (esp. microwave chambers), has an electrically conductive screen (AB) for its sensor (SN), its connector (AN) and its leads (LA), the novelty being that (a) the screen (AB) consists of a first sheath (AHI), (parially) made of highly electrically and thermally conductive material (pref. metal) and (partially) enclosing the sensor (SN), and a second sheath, (partially) made of highly electrically conductive material and (partially) enclosing the connector (AN); (b) one or more low electrical and thermal conductivity (pref. electrically insulating) spacer elements (AB1, AB2) are located between the two sheaths (AH1, AH2); (c) the resulting gap (AR) between the sheaths includes a minimal gap region (MNB) with max. dimensions corresponding to a predetermined fraction (k1) of the minimal critical wavelength of the microwave field; (d) the gap (AR) is bridged by an electrical conductor element (LEU) which is in conductive connection with the sheaths; and (e) the effective electrical cross-sectional area of the element (LEU) corresponds to a predetermined fraction (k2) of the minimal gap cross-sectional area. ADVANTAGE - The design provides interruption and redn. of heat dissipation from the sensor and provides satisfactory insensitivity to microwaves.(4pp Dwg.No.1/1)
