In order to make and attach carrying handles to carrying packs a wide adhesive band (12) with an adhesive layer on one side and supplied from a supply roll (11) is provided with a lining material (14) of reduced width also supplied from a supply roll (15) and applied symmetrically relative to the width of the adhesive layer. Strips of equal width are separated from the read-made adhesive band across the longitudinal extension wherein an exposed adhesive layer is provided either side of the lined centre area. These sections form carrying handle blanks (23) which are stuck by forming a handle loop onto contact faces of the carrying pack by pressing the adhesive layers at the ends. The carrying handle blanks can be brought with their adhesive layers pointing down either side of the lined centre part in the same direction relative to the conveyor direction of the continually conveyed carrying container.
