The hydraulic and electrically controlled tool is used to improve trench excavation work. It uses a set of lateral supports and a hydraulically operated press which engages with the side walls of the excavation. A hydraulic power pack and valves are contained on the excavation rig and only power and control cables lead to the rig. By applying lateral pressure, side wall friction is controlled, thus effective plant weight is increased for soil penetration. Further, trench alignment is more accurately kept. The tool has a support frame (1) with the pressure plates (2) on either sides of it. There are hydraulic rams (3, 5) on either side urging the plates outwards and there are guide rods (4, 6) to prevent unwanted tilting and lateral movement of the plates. USE/ADVANTAGE - Hydraulic and electrically controlled trench excavation tool may be steered and keeps trench walls vertical.
