The multi-roller polishing roller assembly has at least four rollers on a vertical stack where the bearing mountings at the ends of each roller are at the same gap from each other in all the rollers. The top and bottom rollers are both hard, and the two centre rollers have a soft cladding. Two rollers, operating in the same direction but not next to each other, act as roller bending compensation rollers, with pressure zones directed at the other rollers with a normal rigid bending action. Three rollers are on moving bearing mountings which can be subjected to pressure to adjust the linear forces between the rollers. ADVANTAGE - The assemly occupies relatively little space, allows the paper web to be thread through simply, and gives a high speed working.
