Device for evaporating liq. prods. consists of a housing contg. a number of evapn. surfaces, and having an upper vapour outlet (3). The evapn. surfaces are in the form of a number of parallel and closely spaced horizontal plates sloping towards the outside and located about a vertical perforated product inlet pipe which projects into the housing. The housing, the plates and the pipe all have a circular cross section, and the plates are conical in shape. The slope of the plates is between 1:5 and 1:20, and is pref. 1:10, and the plates fill approximately half of the radial distance between the central pipe and the housing. The openings in the perforated pipe are in the form of rows of slots, several slots being associated with each evapn. plate. The surface of each plate has a number of guide elements so that the width of the film of product between neighbouring elements is approximately constant. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used in evapn. of liq. prods. and esp. for flashing of preheated prods. The device is universal and reliable, is compact and simple in construction and provides good quality satd. vapour.
