A process includes overlapping the plastic sections, heating the overlapped regions until they plastify without applying pressure, and then applying pressure. The pressure is applied over the plastified region and on both sides of the adjoining regions, laterally to the plane of the plastic components. During the pressure stage, the plastic material is not heated. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used for welding plate shaped rigid plastic sections which are fibre reinforced. The process enables reinforced plastics to be welded simply and reliably.
