An information display system allows a viewer to determine how long the current programme has to run and also indicates the start time in the event of a delayed or rescheduled transmission. A television set (1) has the input (5) received by the receiver (2) and an audio/video processor (6) providing output to the screen (11) in the normal way. In addition a decoder (3) connects with a data processor (4) that also receives identification signals (8). The processor controls a character generator (10) for display of data on the screen. USE/ADVANTAGE - For Video Programming System t.v. systems or RDS radio systems. Allows transmission time information to be displayed. Particularly used for delayed programmes.
