Current connections for the paraxial contact system (2) in a tubular casing (1) are taken via feedthroughs (3) in its cylindrical surface so that a substantially U-shaped current path (4) is formed. Part of the line connection (9) is bent outwards (5) through about 45 deg. in the axial direction. The remaining vertical section (6) has a horizontal link (7) beyond the axis to a vertical section (8) which is bonded to the fixed contact (10). ADVANTAGE - More effective current loop obtd. with smaller magnetic field components produced by vertical section in region of circuit-breaking arc.
