Forming a tube, the filter is bent through at least 360 deg. around its longitudinal axis, and the pre-coated bent strips (2) in tube form are retained around a central core. At least one of the strips is pre-coated with adhesive particle-form additive material (4), and this on its radial inner side. One such filter element is longitudinally aligned with another, and in mfr. a multiple filter bar is formed, which in turn is broken into a number of filter elements. The strip material used can be any which is harmless, such as woven or non-woven textile, whilst the additive employed can be active carbon adhered by means of e.g. high molecular polyethylene glycol.
