Drive is transmitted to the two rear wheels (6R,6L) through separate half shafts (8R,8L) from clutches (7R,7L) with stepping motors (30R,30L). The relative torque is adjusted by a clutch control unit (40) responsive to signals from a steering direction detector (41) and a calculator of necessary differential rotational speed from the measured road speed and radius of curvature. The outer wheel is driven at max. torque for a given differential speed, at which the clutch for the inner wheel is slipped to give the appropriate transmission characteristic.
